The Water Adventure Centre (CIO) 

We are proud to announce that after 48 years, The Water Adventure Centre has officially become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) as of 1st October 2025!

It’s been an incredible journey—from the original youth workers and Trustees who founded the Centre in 1977, owning just the boathouse, and offering free water sports activities to young people across Greater Manchester and our local community.

Their memories, vision, and dedication will always be at the heart of WAC. What they dreamed of back then has grown into the Water Adventure Centre we know and love today.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has worked at WAC or served as a Trustee over the past 48 years. Without your passion and commitment, WAC would not be what it is today. To those who are sadly no longer with us, your legacy lives on in every wave we ride and every young person we support.

You gave your time, energy, and heart to the Centre, helping us run sessions year-round for groups and young people from all over Greater Manchester.

Thank you to our former employees, Trustees (past and present), funders, and everyone in our local community who has supported us along the way. We are deeply grateful.

The Water Adventure Centre will always put young people first and remain a proud part of our community.

What's changing? 

(CIO) will now be part of our legal name. 

Important Update on Our Legal Structure

We’re pleased to announce that, as of 01 October 2025, our charity has officially transitioned from an unincorporated association to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

This is a positive and strategic step that offers greater legal protection for our trustees and staff, ensuring our organisation is well-equipped for the future.

All charitable activities, assets, and liabilities have been transferred to the new CIO, which continues to operate under the same name and mission.

What This Means for You:

Donors and Supporters:
You can continue supporting our work just as you always have. This change will not affect how we receive or process donations.

Beneficiaries and Partners:
There will be no changes to the services we provide. Our commitment to our mission—and to you—remains our highest priority.

Our new charity registration number is 1204139. The previous number, 508340, will be officially closed in due course, though it may still appear in historical records.
