The Water Adventure Centre (WAC) celebrating 40 Years: Working Across the Community

Date: 27th June 2017

The Water Adventure Centre is having a fantastic celebration for its 40th year in Droylsden with help from the Big Lottery Fund: Celebrate! Providing a fantastic opportunity for everyone who has been a part of WAC over the last 40 years to get together and celebrate the wonderful successes across the community. On July 23rd 2017 from 12 -5pm WAC will be holding its birthday celebrations with free canoeing and activities.

Since it opened its doors in 1977 WAC has worked with 1000’s of young people delivering canoeing, youth work and water play activities. With support from the Safe Ambition music project WACs 40th birthday is set to be WACs biggest celebration yet. With activities on and off the water for all the family.

WAC Trustee Chair, John Byrne says: “It’s such an amazing chance to be able to celebrate the successes of the many thousands of young people who have visited WAC over the years. We’re excited that some of our older members will be able to bring their children and even grand-children to share the tails of their youth with. This event will also see the parting of WACs director, Lilian Pons who will be retiring after 36 amazing years of working for WAC and we know lots of people will be turning up to join in the party. ”

Local MP, Angela Rayner, said: “This event will be a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate their own successes and the success in our community. WAC has shown 40 years of dedication to working across the community and it’s great that they want to celebrate that by sharing this day with everyone that has been part of WACs vibrant history. ”
