Booking Information

COST: Sessions can be provided for free to many groups. In this case there is a £20 returnable deposit which is returned on attendance. If you cannot send a cheque in advance, you need to confirm that the deposit will be paid if you default.

For paying groups, the cost is a subsidised rate of £140 per session.

TIMING: Canoeing sessions last for two hours, and can start at 10am, 10.30am, 1pm or 1.30pm, or by arrangement.

PARTICIPANTS: Everyone must be over 8 years old. Under 18s must be able to swim 25 meters unless prevented by a disability.

GROUP SIZE: Up to 15 people, plus one or two of your workers (two is Best Practice). If you are planning to bring very challenging young people or disabled non-swimmers this must have been discussed with WAC at the time you made the booking so we can reduce the numbers in your group and/ or put on extra volunteers/ staff.

ROLE OF VISITING GROUP WORKERS: We expect workers bringing groups to participate and actively assist and encourage their group. Your group workers are responsible for working productively with any young people not taking part in water activities.

CANCELLATIONS: If you have to cancel please give us as much notice as possible. You will lose the payment or £20 deposit on cancellation if you give less than one month’s notice.

WAC reserves the right to cancel a session due to poor weather or staff illness but will offer you the next suitable session.

OTHER: Everyone under eighteen years must have written parental consent. It is your responsibility to ensure this and to bring completed forms to WAC on the day.

Please discourage your group from bringing valuables, expensive sports wear and money.

Everyone must bring a warm change of clothes, a towel and spare footwear that will not fall off in the water.

It is wise for workers to bring extra clothing, a towel and shoes as someone always forgets!

Smoking is not permitted in any of the WAC buildings. Workers are expected not to smoke at all.

WAC is a British Canoe Union (BCU) Approved Centre and follow their guidelines. The decisions taken by WAC staff are to ensure your safety and are final.
